Have you ever stopped to think about shadows? God has had me think about them the past couple of weeks. Shadows cover. David speaks several times in the Book of Psalm of being in the shadow of God's wings. Psalms 17:8 "Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings." Psalms 36:7 "How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings." Psalms 63:7 "Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings."

As a cloud passed over while I was having my quiet time the other day, God's Holy Spirit reminded me that God covers me with His grace, His peace, His love, His mercy, His protection, etc. For something to cast a shadow it must come between the light and the object. It must be over or in front of the object. I can rest in God's shadow when I rest under His authority and allow Him to go before me. As you see a shadow today, let it remind you that God, just like a loving parent, desires to cover and protect us. Truly, we can rest in Him!
