Cast ALL your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.I Peter 5:7 NIV

Photo courtesy www.thinkgeek.comThe presence and provision of our Lord is ever humbling. How He takes the time to bless me even when all I seem to do is complain, I will never understand. His patience and blessing abounds to my every care.

Recently, I was on a business trip after having been away from home for various reasons off and on for several weeks. Quite honestly, the last place I wanted to be was at a conference. I wanted to be home with my family, writing and getting myself ready for the upcoming company and holiday season.

I voiced my “concerns” to the Lord, but my complaining didn’t change the fact that I would have to be away. How would I get any writing done? How would I relax? It would be two and one-half days full of activity unrelated to what I wanted to be doing. But God had me in mind. He had a special blessing waiting for me that only He could have orchestrated.

Two very small words, yet powerful: “But God.”

To continue, our room had been changed at our request. We wanted to be further away from the commotion and resort atmosphere. Little did we know we had been placed in a suite, right on the lake with a screened-in porch overlooking the Ozarks of Missouri, surrounded by the beautiful, colorful foliage of fall. It was more than incredible; it was magnificent!

But God. Does God care about our small whines and inconveniences? Yes, He does. Why would He care about these details? Because they are our cares, our worries, our troubles. I wanted relaxation and time to write. I thought I needed that time at home among the comforts of the familiar. But God made a seemingly impossible situation not only possible but enjoyable, productive, and one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.

I am so grateful for His surprises. I am so thankful that He listens intently to every care of our heart. Sometimes when we look hard enough, I believe we can even see Him smile and hear His still small voice say, “You are welcome.”

Cast your worries on God and let him take away the buts.
